Hayley WALTER – Cause Bodily Harm, Refusal To Blow & Breach

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 29-year-old from Central Huron is facing criminal charges stemming from a two-vehicle crash that occurred at the end of November near Kinburn.

Just before 3:00 p.m. on November 28, 2019 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a two-vehicle crash located at the intersection of Kinburn Line and Bridge Road.

Upon arrival officers observed a heavily damaged mini-van and a hatchback. The driver of the mini-van was transported to hospital and was later released with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the hatchback was also treated and later released from hospital with minor injuries.

While speaking with the driver of the hatchback police noted the smell of alcohol on the driver. Additionally other indicators were observed that led the investigating officer to suspect the driver had been consuming alcohol. A blood alcohol demand was made to the driver and she refused to comply with the demand to provide a blood sample for the purposes of determining the concentration of alcohol in her blood.

Further investigation also revealed the driver was failing to comply with a previous court condition to not consume alcohol.

As such, 29-year-old Hayley WALTER from Central Huron has since been charged with Operation Cause Bodily Harm, Refusal to Comply with Demand and Fail to Comply with Recognizance. She will have to make a court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on January 20, 2020 to answer to the charges.
