Elisha THOMPSON Was Arrested

(DRYDEN, ON) – A local resident is facing drug trafficking charges following an investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

On April 10, 2024, just before 10:30 a.m., members of the Dryden OPP CSCU, with the assistance of the Rainy River OPP CSCU and the Sioux Lookout OPP CSCU, executed a search warrant at a residence on Casimir Avenue in the City of Dryden.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine. Other items associated with drug trafficking were also seized.

As a result of the investigation, Elisha THOMPSON, 34-years-old, of Dryden, has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Criminal Code with the following offences:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on May 6, 2024.

Michael BOLGER Facing Numerous Charges

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a person following the execution of a search warrant in Quinte West.

On April 16, 2024, at approximately 06:00 a.m., the OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) assisted by the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT) and members of the Quinte West Detachment, executed a search warrant at a residence on O’Neil Crescent, Trenton, as part of a drug trafficking investigation. As a result, an individual was arrested resulting in a firearm, cash, ammunition, suspected cocaine, oxycodone, MDMA (ecstasy), amphetamine, psilocybin (mushrooms) and other items suspected to be related to drug trafficking being confiscated.

Michael BOLGER, 43 years old from Quinte West was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Careless storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – in Canada
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.

Owen CHANG – Drug Trafficking

(KENORA, ON) – An investigation led by the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in drug trafficking charges.

On April 9, 2024, just before 12:00 p.m., members of the Kenora OPP CSCU were conducting an investigation in the area of Bernier Drive in the City of Kenora when they observed drug transactions take place.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of suspected illicit substances including methamphetamine, hydromorphone, and dilaudid. Canadian currency and other items associated with drug trafficking were also seized.

As a result, Owen CHANG, 30-years-old, of Kenora, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid

·        Traffick in Schedule I Substance – Opioid

·        Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora at a later date.

Spike Belt & K9 Used – 4 Charged

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – Police arrested and charged four people after a vehicle failed to stop for police.

On March 28, 2024, shortly after 11:00 p.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised by the Kirkland Lake OPP of a vehicle that failed to stop for speeding on Highway 11, and the vehicle continued to travel south.

Police located the vehicle traveling south on Highway 64 in Field, and a Tire Deflation Device (TDD), otherwise known as a Spike belt was successfully utilized causing the vehicle to safely come to a stop. Three passengers fled into a wooded area, while police arrested the driver.

There was a large police presence when members from the OPP K9 Unit, Emergency Response Team, Snowmobile, ATV and Vessel Enforcement (S.A.V.E.) Unit and OPP Aviation assisted with the search. The three other passengers were subsequently later located and arrested in an isolated cabin.

A search located Canadian currency and drugs suspected to be cocaine.

As a result of the investigation,

Mateus RIBEIRO, 31 years-of-age, from Whitby, was charged with:

  • Dangerous operation
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

Mohamed ABU, 28 years-of-age, from Loyalist Township, and Ibrahim OMAR, 29 years-of-age, from Toronto, were both charged with:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence

Devante MORRIS-McDONALD, 22 years-of-age, from Toronto, was charged with, possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and break, enter a place – commit indictable offence

All four accused were held for Bail Court and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on April 2, 2024, in North Bay.

$7,000 Drug Bust – GUILER

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) were involved in a drug investigation which led to the arrest of one individual.

On March 26, 2024, Officers seized approximately $7000 worth of Fentanyl and Cocaine, a cellular device, drug paraphernalia and $1855 in Canadian Currency.

Richard GUILER, 49 years old of Hastings Highlands, Ontario, has been charged with:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Cocaine and

·        Possession property obtained by Crime Under $5000

GUILER was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 27, 2024.

Tevin FRANCIS – Drug Trafficking

(ORANGEVILLE, ON) – Officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized a quantity of drugs and charged an individual as a result of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation in the Town of Orangeville.

On March 25, 2024, members of the Dufferin Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), along with Dufferin uniform members and Offender Management and Apprehension Program (OMAP) arrested a male who was wanted on a warrant. The male attempted to flee from officers engaging in a short foot pursuit. The officers arrested the male without incident, and he is now facing multiple charges. In addition, the officers seized a quantity of drugs.  

Tevin FRANCIS, 28-year-old from Thornhill has been charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Heroin

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime – under $5000

·      Driving while under suspension

·      Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver

The following property was seized:

·      Cocaine – 5.5 Grams

·      Heroin – 2.5 Grams

·      Cash – $1970 Canadian

·      Cellular phone – evidence of the offence

$300,000 Drug Bust

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – In early 2024, the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted an investigation into drug trafficking through-out the District of Muskoka.

On March 20th and 21st, 2024, with the assistance of theCentral Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, the Orillia Community Street Crime Unit, and Bracebridge Detachment officers, investigators executed five search warrants, two in the Town of Bracebridge and three withinthe City of Toronto. As a result of the investigation, police seized a quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, various prescription medications, a large quantity of cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia.The estimated street value of the drugs seized is in excess of $300,000. 

As a result of the investigation, the following accused were arrested and face the following charges:

Cocaine & Weapons Bust

(PICTON, ON) – The East Region Community Street Crime Unit has arrested and charged two individuals after executing a search warrant in Picton yesterday.

On March 21, 2024 a search warrant was executed on Nery Avenue with the assistance of the East Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit. As a result of the warrant, officers seized a firearm, a prohibited device, ammunition and a quantity of suspected cocaine.

Thomas MCCUMBER, age 34 and Amber RODGERS, age 28, both from Prince Edward County were charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon

Both individuals were held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 22, 2024.

Drug Bust – SANDERSON

(DRYDEN, ON) – A local resident is facing drug trafficking charges following an investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

On March 20, 2024, just before midnight, members of the Dryden OPP CSCU, with the assistance of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, and Kenora OPP Detachment, initiated a traffic stop on Highway 17 west of the City of Kenora.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of suspected cocaine.

As a result, Richard SANDERSON, 57-years-old, of Dryden, has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on March 25, 2024.

John KING Arrested For Drug Trafficking

(DRYDEN, ON) – An investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), has led to charges being laid against a local Dryden resident.

On March 18, 2024, just after 4:00 p.m., John KING, 60 years old, was arrested for possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, in the area of Mary Avenue, City of Dryden.

On March 18, 2024, just after 6:00 p.m., a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed at a residence on Mary Avenue, City of Dryden, where a quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, hydromorphone pills, oxycodone pills, over $9,000 in Canadian currency, and evidence of drug trafficking were located.

As a result of the investigation, John KING has been arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (5 counts)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

The accused has been remanded into custody at the Kenora District Jail where he is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Kenora on March 21, 2024.
