Siarra JONES Was Arrested

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one individual with theft following an incident in the City of Dryden.

On April 28, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m. officers responded to a call for service at a local business in the City of Dryden.

As a result of the investigation, Siarra JONES, 27-year-old of Dryden has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:  

·        Adult Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

·        Adult Public Mischief

The accused has been released from custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 16, 2024.

38 Year Old Charged With Theft

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one individual with theft following an incident in the City of Dryden.

On May 5, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m. officers responded to a call for service at a local business in the City of Dryden.

As a result of the investigation, Marcia Campbel, 38-year-old of Dryden has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:  

·        Adult Theft Under $500 – Shoplifting

The accused has been released from custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Elisha THOMPSON Was Arrested

(DRYDEN, ON) – A local resident is facing drug trafficking charges following an investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

On April 10, 2024, just before 10:30 a.m., members of the Dryden OPP CSCU, with the assistance of the Rainy River OPP CSCU and the Sioux Lookout OPP CSCU, executed a search warrant at a residence on Casimir Avenue in the City of Dryden.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine. Other items associated with drug trafficking were also seized.

As a result of the investigation, Elisha THOMPSON, 34-years-old, of Dryden, has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Criminal Code with the following offences:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on May 6, 2024.

Violent Armed Spousal Assault – Name With Held To Protect Accused From Public Backlash #EndTheAbuse

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one individual with assault following an incident in the City of Dryden.

On April 4, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m. officers responded to an assault incident at the skywalk in the City of Dryden.

Through investigation, officers arrested and charged one individual with several offences. The name of the accused is being held to protect the identity of the victim.

A Dryden resident has been charged with:

·        Adult Assault – Spousal

·        Adult Assault with a Weapon – Spousal

·        Adult Assault

The accused has been held for bail and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on April 5, 2024.

OPP Advise Caution AFTER April Fools Day Drowning #TooLate


On the 1st of April 2024, Dryden OPP responded to a call for service on Kellar Road, for reports of a male that had fallen through the ice while attempting to rescue their dog. Officers attended with water rescue equipment, as well as remotely piloted aircraft in attempts to locate the male. Dryden Fire Service attended with ice rescue equipment to assist. After an extensive search of the area, the individual and his pet were both found deceased. The investigation is ongoing.

As warmer temperatures arrive the ice conditions on rivers and lakes will begin to deteriorate and become more unstable. OPP would like to remind everyone to exercise caution, wear appropriate floatation suits and carry ice picks if venturing out onto the ice late in the season. If you are unsure of the ice conditions best practice is to stay off the ice.

Drug Bust – SANDERSON

(DRYDEN, ON) – A local resident is facing drug trafficking charges following an investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

On March 20, 2024, just before midnight, members of the Dryden OPP CSCU, with the assistance of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, and Kenora OPP Detachment, initiated a traffic stop on Highway 17 west of the City of Kenora.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of suspected cocaine.

As a result, Richard SANDERSON, 57-years-old, of Dryden, has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on March 25, 2024.

John KING Arrested For Drug Trafficking

(DRYDEN, ON) – An investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), has led to charges being laid against a local Dryden resident.

On March 18, 2024, just after 4:00 p.m., John KING, 60 years old, was arrested for possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, in the area of Mary Avenue, City of Dryden.

On March 18, 2024, just after 6:00 p.m., a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed at a residence on Mary Avenue, City of Dryden, where a quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, hydromorphone pills, oxycodone pills, over $9,000 in Canadian currency, and evidence of drug trafficking were located.

As a result of the investigation, John KING has been arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (5 counts)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

The accused has been remanded into custody at the Kenora District Jail where he is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Kenora on March 21, 2024.

Bomb Investigation In Dryden – Two Arrested – Meth A Factor

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two individuals after an incident that took place in the City of Dryden.

On March 16, 2024, officers from the Dryden Detachment were made aware of an individual possibly in possession of explosives. At this time an investigation was commenced.

As a result of the investigation, explosive devices along with suspected cocaine and methamphetamine were located. Two individuals were taking into custody and charged.

Maya Felske, 23-years-old from Dryden, ON charged with:

  • Explosives – Making or possessing for unlawful purposes.
  • Uttering Threats – Damage Property
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I substance – Methamphetamines
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I substance – Cocaine
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon

The accused person has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing on March 18, 2024.

Micaila Lizotte, 21-years-old, from Dryden, ON charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – cocaine

The accused person has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on April 15, 2024.

The investigation was completed by the Dryden Detachment and North West Region Crime Unit with assistance from the OPP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU).

The Dryden OPP wish to express their thanks to the residents of the City of Dryden for their patience and assistance during this critical incident and subsequent investigation.

Police Evacuation In Dryden

(DRYDEN, ON) – Residents may have seen an increased police presence in the City of Dryden while the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) deal with an ongoing police investigation.

Police are currently at Wilson Trailer Park near Memorial Avenue, evacuating some individuals from their residences to allow police to continue the investigation safely. Police are asking residents and motorists to respect the current closures and avoid the incident area.

The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be shared by the Dryden OPP as they become available.

Dryden Drunk Driver – KOOSTACHIN

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation. 

On March 13, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Duke Street in the City of Dryden.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol/drug. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden detachment OPP Detachment for further testing.

Autumn KOOSTACHIN, 22-years-old, of Dryden, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Adult operation while impaired by blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Adult operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Adult driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on April 15, 2024.
