(NORTH HURON, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), West Grey Police Service, Huron OPP, and OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) resulted in a traffic stop and the seizure of illegal drugs, cash, a prohibited weapon, and offence-related property with a total value exceeding $18,000.
On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at approximately 8:20 p.m. a vehicle was stopped on Josephine Street in Wingham, Township of North Huron.
As a result of the traffic stop, police seized a prohibited knife, ammunition, and Canadian currency. Police also seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine.
The combined estimated value of the seized drugs is $13,480.00.
The combined estimated value of the seized property is $1,760.00.
Canadian currency seized is $2,790.00.
Christopher WARD, 38 years of age from Wingham has been charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order
- Possession of a Weapon contrary to Prohibition Order
- Unauthorized possession of weapon – (spring-loaded knife)
The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, then later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 24th, 2023, in the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.
Dana WHEELER, 42 years of age from Durham has been charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, and later remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 24th, 2023, in the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.
