(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a transient person with 19 criminal offences after OPP were contacted on Friday, March 24th.
On March 24, 2022, at approximately 10:05 a.m. Huron County OPP received a report of a break, enter and mischief to a motel located on Bayfield Road. Investigating officers learned that a male had been found sleeping in one of the motel rooms and had not paid for the room. Further inspection revealed that the suspect had forced his was into the room through a window, causing damage. The suspect had departed prior to police arrival; however, motel staff had obtained photographs and video of the suspect, then called OPP to attend.
The suspect was known to police and was observed in Goderich shortly after, at which time he was arrested. During the search of the accused, weapons, break and enter tools, and stolen property were found. The suspect was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for processing.
As a result of the investigation, Huron County OPP has charged 32-year-old Aaron WEDGE of no fixed address with the following offences:
– Break and Enter,
– Possession of Firearm while Prohibited (five counts),
– Possession of Ammunition while Prohibited (five counts),
– Possession of Break and Enter Tools,
– Possession of Stolen Property,
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order x (six counts).
The accused was held for a bail hearing and later remanded into custody. The accused has a court appearance in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on April 4th, 2023.
