OPP Claim Citizen Resisted Arrest And Attempted To Disarm Officer

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person is facing serious charges after a domestic dispute ended with a fight with police.

Shortly after 6:00 p.m. on July 04 2020, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a residence on Barber Avenue North, in Listowel, for a domestic dispute. Upon arriving at the residence, it was determined that one person was failing to comply with conditions of a release order, and they were advised they were under arrest. The person resisted arrest, assaulted police, and then tried to disarm an officer.

As a result, a 40 year old North Perth resident has been charged with:

Failure to Comply with a Release Order – Other than Attend Court

Resist Peace Officer

Mischief Under $5000

Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm

Assault a Peace Officer

Disarming a Peace Officer

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.
