(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – On Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at approximately 5:40 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a break and enter at a Tyrell Street, Simcoe, Norfolk County address.
It was determined that at approximately 5:10 a.m., unknowns attended the address and gained entry into a garage. Once inside, unknowns then entered a pickup truck and removed fishing lures, lighters and spare change. The homeowner caught the person in the act and immediately gave chase and tackled the suspect near Royal Street. The suspect was able to break free and then fled in an unknown direction. The homeowner subsequently located a gun and contacted police. Officer’s arrived on scene and determined that it was an air-soft BB handgun.
Members of the Norfolk County OPP are continuing to investigate and are seeking the public’s assistance with this investigation. If anyone has any information they are being asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

The OPP is urging all residents to contact police immediately if they observe or interrupt a crime in progress. We do not want anyone to put themselves in danger or get seriously injured.
