(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On March 6, 2020, at approximately 7:00 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a 911 call at a residence located on Main Street South in the Township of Wellington North.
It was reported that an unwanted party entered the residence armed with an electronic stun gun and a baseball bat and assaulted the victim. The accused also stole a quantity of money from the victim before being apprehended by police.
The accused and the victim were known to each other.
Police searched the accused incident to arrest and located a quantity of codeine and counterfeit money. Further investigation revealed that the accused was breaching the conditions of a Recognizance and an Undertaking.
As a result, a 44-year-old male of West Grey Township has been charged with:
Break and Enter into a Dwelling and Commit Indictable Offence
Possession of Prohibited Weapon
Possession of Prohibited Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Assault with a Weapon
Possession of Counterfeit Money
Fail to Comply with Undertaking
Fail to Comply with Recognizance
Robbery with Violence
Theft Under $5000
Possession of Schedule 1 Drug – Codeine
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
