Another Hiker Falls Off Cliff

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – For the second time in just four days, Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to assist paramedics and the Fire department with a hiker that had fallen off of a cliff at Eugenia Falls Conservation Area in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

On June 16th, 2020 a youth was walking with friends, when he lost his footing and fell down the rock face into a cavern below. Grey Bruce OPP assisted Grey County Paramedics and members of the Grey Highlands and Blue Mountains Fire Department in rescuing this youth, after several hours of navigating the steep cliffs. This youth was transported to hospital with minor injuries. Following the incident the property was closed by Grey Sauble Conservation Authority.

On June 19th, 2020 4 hiker entered the closed conservation area. One of the hikers lost his footing, falling several metres off of a cliff. Grey Bruce OPP assisted Grey County Paramedics and members of the Grey Highlands Fire Department with this rescue. This male was transported via air ambulance to a Regional hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. OPP issued the involved hikers provincial offence notices for entering premises when entry prohibited, section 2(1)(a)(i) Trespass to Property Act.

Grey Bruce OPP reminds all hikers that the Eugenia Falls Conservation Area is currently closed to the public. No entry is permitted and anyone located inside the park may be charged with Trespassing.
