17 Year Old Caught Going 129 in a 60

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Hand over your driver’s licence and keys isn’t exactly what you want to hear as a driver when you get stopped by the police. However, if you’re going to exceed the speed limit by more than 50 km/h those are the words you can expect to hear.

On May 9, 2020 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling on Thames Road East in Exeter when he observed a pickup traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed. A RADAR device was used and the speed of the racing truck was measured at 129 km/h in the posted 60 km/h zone.

A traffic stop was conducted and a 17-year-old driver from West Perth was charged with Drive Motor Perform a Stunt – Excessive Speed. He will now have to attend Provincial Offences Act court this summer to answer to the charge.

His driver’s licence has been suspended and his motor vehicle has been impounded for a week.
