Weslick SMITH Facing Break And Enter Charge

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A South Bruce resident is facing several charges including a Break & Enter charge following an incident that took place in Dungannon this past weekend.

Just after 11:00 p.m. on May 8, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call about a suspicious person that had just left a residence under construction located on James Street.

Officers were nearby when the call came in so they quickly located the suspect vehicle as it was leaving the scene. The driver initially failed to stop for the first officer however he did pull over a short distance later for a second police vehicle.

The subsequent police investigation revealed the suspect had been in the home under construction and was in possession of various break-in tools. Additionally, upon searching the accused’s vehicle officers found a quantity of cannabis readily available to the driver.

Weslick SMITH, 27 years of age, from South Bruce has been charged with Flight from Peace Officer, Break & Enter a Place with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence, Possession of Break-in Instruments and Drive a Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available.

He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 20, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
