Two Stunt Drivers Stopped At Same Time

(THAMESFORD, ON) – A Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was on Dundas Street in Thamesford around 3:00 a.m. on January 28, 2020. They observed two vehicles at a very high rate of speed going westbound towards London, Ontario.

The officer stopped both vehicles with going in excess of 150 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. Both drivers had their vehicles impounded and driver licences suspended.

The OPP is urging all drivers to take increased speeds seriously, no matter the time of day.

There have been ten occurrences this year alone on Middlesex County roadways with drivers being charged with stunt driving due to driving over 50 km/h of the posted speed limit. (Three of them occurred on the 401 series highways within Middlesex)

In 2019 there was approximately 160 drivers charged with stunt driving for exceeding the speed limit by 50 km/h in Middlesex County.

The OPP will continue to enforce road safety, but need the motoring public to do their part as well. Enforcement and education is only one part of road safety.
