(SOUTHGATE, ON) – On July 10, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a break and enter at a residence at Ida Street in Dundalk, ON.
The home owners returned their residence and found an unknown male on their property, carrying their child’s guitar that was stored in the home. They found the front door wide open and also observed that the back door of the home was also broken into, so they called 9-1-1.
Officers from the Grey Bruce OPP attended this residence and located the suspect, sleeping in the driveway with the stolen guitar still in his hand.
As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Austin ERNST, 22 years-of-age, from Southgate, ON with break and enter a place to commit an indictable offence, section 348(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000., section 354(1)(a) CC.
The accused was released on an Undertaking and will appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 17, 2020.
