(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Stratford Police Service conducted a joint investigation that resulted in the arrest of a North Perth resident.
Around 7:30 a.m. on Friday April 24 2020, a vehicle failed to stop when a Stratford Police Service officer initiated a traffic stop. Perth County OPP were notified, and assisted in searching the area for the vehicle. The purple Toyota Echo was located minutes later by a citizen, abandoned in a ditch at the intersection of Line 39 and Road 125 in the Township of Perth East. It had been involved in a collision with a hydro pole, and the front wheels were still spinning on the vehicle when it was discovered.
With assistance from the OPP Canine Unit and the Emergency Response Team (ERT), one male was located hiding a short distance away from the vehicle. He was arrested, and transported by Perth County EMS to a local hospital and was treated for minor injuries.
Police initially received information that three people had been in the vehicle at the time it fled from police, but the investigation revealed that two parties had exited the car prior to the interaction with police. Police were also later able to determine that the vehicle involved had been stolen out of North Perth.
As a result, Jordan Sinclair HILL, 21, of North Perth, has been charged with:

Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code
Possess Property Obtained by Crime under $5000
Fail to Comply with Recognizance
Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Fail to Stop for Police
Careless Driving
Fail to Remain
The accused was held for a bail hearing. Property owners are reminded to secure all points of entry including residence doors, gates, sheds, and garages, and to always lock vehicle doors. Never leave keys with a motor vehicle.
