(NORTH HURON, ON) – A Wingham resident is facing 10 criminal charges connected to a string of break-ins that have occurred in the Town of Wingham over the last few weeks.
On Thursday, January 9, 2020 members from the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Huron County OPP Detachment executed a search warrant at a residence located on Minnie Street in Wingham.
As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized five stolen laptop computers, numerous sets of stolen keys, break-in tools and two sets of brass knuckles.
Additionally, through further investigation officers were able to determine the accused was connected to four separate break, enter and thefts that have taken place in the Town of Wingham over the last few weeks.
James LEACHMAN, 26 years of age from Wingham has been charged with the following offences:
Two counts – Break, Enter a Place – Intent to Commit Indictable Offence
Two counts – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Two counts – Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Two counts – Possession of Break-in Instruments
Use Disguise With Intent
Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 24, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
