(WEST PERTH, ON) – A West Perth driver is facing charges after fleeing a RIDE program.
Just before 9:30 p.m. on August 08 2020, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program on Line 32, in the Municipality of West Perth, when a driver was directed to pull to the shoulder for further investigation. Officers suspected that the driver was impaired. The vehicle then fled the scene.
Police were able to follow the vehicle, and when it entered a rural property, officers placed the driver under arrest for impaired driving and flight from police. The driver was brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.
As a result, Jason James COLLEY, 42, of West Perth, has been charged with:
Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
Flight from Police
Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford, at a later date, to answer to the charges. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.
