Drunk Prohibited Driver Arrested – Wilfred VAILLANCOURT

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A driver from Windsor is facing three criminal charges after police received multiple calls about a possible impaired driver yesterday afternoon.

On Sunday, September 26, 2020 at approximately 4:41 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members received multiple calls about the driver of a pickup truck that was towing a trailer and a vehicle in a very erratic manner. Witnesses followed along and at one point when the suspect vehicle came to a stop one of the witnesses spoke with the driver and took away the driver’s keys. However, to no avail the driver was able to get his vehicle going again and continued on his way.

Soon thereafter a Huron OPP officer located and stopped the suspect vehicle in Varna. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noticed the driver was displaying several signs of impairment. As such, the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were analyzed by the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be over the legal limit.

Additional investigation revealed the driver was also currently prohibited from driving.

Wilfred VAILLANCOURT, 62 years of age from Windsor has been charged with Operation While Prohibited, Impaired Operation and Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 30, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
