(SOUTH BRUCE, ON) – A driver from Mildmay has been charged with Operation 80 Plus following a traffic stop that took place south of Mildmay.
On Sunday, February 16, 2020 at approximately 1:37 a.m. a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a motor vehicle approach their Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint that was set up at the intersection of Bruce Road 6 and Bruce Road 28. As the vehicle approached the intersection it slowed down however it made an abrupt turn onto Bruce Road 6.
The investigating officer followed after the vehicle and a short distance later the driver pulled over. Upon stopping the vehicle the investigating officer spoke with the driver and noticed the driver had consumed some alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. As a result the driver was arrested and transported to the Walkerton OPP detachment for breath tests.
He later provided two samples of his breath to the intoxilizer technician and both of his results were analyzed to be above the legal limit.
Robert DURRER, 29 years of age from Mildmay has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. He was also served with a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded. He has been released from custody with a court date scheduled for March 4, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Walkerton.
