(HURON EAST, ON) – A drug trafficking investigation conducted by members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Huron-Perth Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) has resulted in a significant seizure for Huron County OPP.
On Saturday, September 19, 2020 at approximately 12:38 p.m. Huron County OPP stopped a sport utility vehicle on Newry Road that was involved in a drug trafficking investigation.
As a result of the ongoing investigation police arrested the driver and took him into custody. A search incident to arrest resulted in police seizing significant quantities of cocaine, cannabis resin (hash) and cannabis resin (oil). Additionally, police seized offence related property that consisted of a sport utility vehicle, a digital scale, cell phone and packaging materials.
The estimated, combined value of the seized controlled substances is $10,320 and the estimated value of the seized offence related property is over $15,000.
Robert HACKETT, 58 years of age, from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine for the Purposes of Trafficking and Possession of Cannabis for the Purposes of Selling. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 30, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
