(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On April 11, 2020 at approximately 9:25 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Wellington Road 109 near Wellington Road 16. The officer observed an eastbound sport utility vehicle (SUV) travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 145 km/h.
Jonathan Riley MARKOVIC, 22-years-old of Clifford has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on July 15, 2020. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
