Officer Assaulted By Drunk Driver – Hanna ACASTER

(ST. CLAIR TWP, ON) – On November 19, 2020 at approximately 8:30 p.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a possible impaired driver complaint on Lyndoch Street, St. Clair Township.  

Lambton OPP members located the vehicle on River Road and spoke with the driver. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was displaying signs of impairment. The officer attempted to place the driver under arrest for impaired operation when the driver actively resisted. The officer was able to gain control and place the driver into the rear of the police cruiser. At that time, the driver proceeded to kick the officer multiple times prior to the door being closed. The driver was transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where they refused to provide a breath sample.  

Hanna ACASTER, 30 year old of St. Clair TWP, has been charged with Operation While Impaired- Alcohol and Blood, Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand and Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest, pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.  

The accused was held in custody and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Sarnia.
