Drug & Weapons Bust

(OTTAWA, ON) – An individual from Ottawa was arrested and charged with several offences under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, following an investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team (PGNG) in collaboration with the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Guns and Gangs Unit, Neighbourhood Resource Team and Tactical Unit.

This investigation, dubbed Project CARNIVORE, began in February 2024, after investigators learned of an individual trafficking illicit drugs in the Ottawa area.

On May 6, 2024, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Malahat Way in Stittsville with the assistance of the OPS Tactical Unit. Officers seized approximately $30,000 in Canadian currency, a loaded 9mm handgun, several government identifications that are believed to be forged, and a small quantity of suspected cocaine.

Moiz Syed SAJID, 21 years old of Ottawa, has been arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of firearm without a license

·      Unauthorized possession of a firearm

·      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device

·      Possession of a loaded restricted firearm

·      Possession of a firearm obtained by crime

·      Possession of schedule I substance – cocaine

·      Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
