Teen Repeat Offender With Gun & Drugs Found Under Car #3Strikes

Waterloo Region, Ontario  Waterloo Regional Police have charged a male for multiple drug and firearm related offences in Kitchener.

On April 30, 2025, at approximately 12:20 a.m., Central Neighbourhood Police officers were on proactive patrol in the area of King Street East and Scott Street.

While on patrol, officers located a male who was wanted for previous criminal offences. The male fled from officers.

During the search for the suspect, which included the use of the Service’s canine unit, a firearm and a large quantity of suspected drugs were located. 

The K-9 Unit was able to track a suspect hiding underneath a vehicle and an arrest was made.

An 18-year-old male from Kitchener is being charged with multiple criminal offences including:

  • Escape lawful custody
  • Possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose
  • Carry concealed weapon
  • Three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking schedule I substance
  • Fail to comply with a release order

The male was held for a bail hearing.

One Airlifted Following Collision

Waterloo Region, Ontario  WRPS’ Traffic Services Unit is investigating a serious collision involving a single motor vehicle in Kitchener.

On April 12, 2025, at approximately 11:10 a.m., emergency services responded to reports of a collision involving a Hyundai sedan on Ottawa Street South near Strasburg Road. 

The Hyundai left the roadway striking a hydro pole, fence, and eventually a structure in the backyard of a nearby residential home.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 26-year-old male from Kitchener, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an out of region hospital. A 29-year-old female passenger in the vehicle sustained minor injuries. 

A section of Ottawa Street South was closed for a lengthy period of time for the investigation and hydro repairs.

Another Pedestrian Collision

Waterloo Region, Ontario  WRPS’ Traffic Services Unit is investigating a serious collision involving a pickup truck and a pedestrian.

On April 12, 2025, at approximately 6:10 a.m., emergency services responded to reports of a collision between a Toyota pickup truck and a pedestrian at the intersection of University Avenue East and Weber Street North in Waterloo.

The driver of the Toyota, a 53-year-old male from Waterloo, was not injured. The pedestrian, a 32-year-old female from Waterloo suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A portion of Weber Street North was closed for several hours for the investigation.

Break & Enter, Sexual Assault With Weapon

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male after a break and enter and sexual assault with a weapon in Cambridge.

On March 11, 2025, at approximately 12:15 a.m., police responded to reports of a sexual assault at a business in the area of Eagle Street North and Hespeler Road.

An unknown male gained entry through a drive-thru window and sexually assaulted two employees who were in the business at the time. The male used a weapon during the altercation which resulted in the employees suffering minor non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers quickly responded to the location where the male was located and arrested.

The 32-year-old Cambridge male has been charged with multiple offences including sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, and break enter.

The male was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

Youth Arrested At Mall For Brandishing Bat & Firearm

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a youth after a weapon call at a Kitchener mall.

On March 8, 2025, at approximately 3:20 p.m., police received reports of a male youth brandishing a baseball bat and a firearm. The incident took place in the area of Fairway Road South and Wilson Avenue.

There were no reports of any physical injuries.

Upon arrival, police located the male and arrested him. The officers located a BB gun replica of a firearm.

The male was charged with two counts of weapon for a dangerous purpose and three counts of breaching a judicial order.

The male was held for a bail hearing.

Armed Robbery – Teen Gang Arrested

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested three youths after an armed robbery in Kitchener.

On March 5, 2025, at approximately 3:50 p.m., police responded to a report of an armed robbery at a business in the area of Duke Street East and Frederick Street.

Three masked males entered the store armed with knives and stole merchandise.

Officers located two of the suspects nearby and placed them under arrest. The third suspect was arrested shortly after 6 p.m.

No physical injuries were reported.

As a result of the investigation, two 14-year-old males from Waterloo and a 15-year-old male from Cambridge were charged with:

  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Disguise with intent

The accused parties were held for a bail hearing.

The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ Robbery Team and additional charges are anticipated.

Labour Dispute – One Arrested

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police responded to a collision involving a pedestrian in Woolwich Township.

On March 3, 2025, at approximately 7:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the area of Airport Road and Fountain Street North.

The pedestrian was part of a labour dispute in the area at the time of the incident. The driver of the motor vehicle struck the pedestrian as they were proceeding past picketers.

There were no reports of any physical injuries.

The driver was stopped by police and arrested for dangerous driving.

For public safety reasons, WRPS advised the public to avoid the area for the safety of the group and drivers.

WRPS’ Police Liaison Team continue to work with involved parties to preserve the peace, prevent offences, and enforce the law.

Teen Gang Arrested For Series Of Jewelry Store Robberies

Waterloo Region, Ontario  Waterloo Regional Police have charged four individuals in connection to two attempted jewellery store robberies in Waterloo.

On February 1, 2025, at approximately 6 p.m., police responded to reports of an attempted jewellery store robbery at Conestoga Mall. Six suspects arrived at the mall in a grey Honda Civic stolen earlier in the day in Toronto. The males entered the mall, approached the jewellery store, and fled when a store security guard intervened.

On February 3, 2025, at approximately 1:50 p.m., police responded to reports of an attempted jewellery store robbery at Conestoga Mall. Six suspects arrived at the mall in a silver SUV. The males entered the mall and fled when a store security guard shouted to close the gates to a jewellery store. Another security guard pursued the suspects and observed them leave in a silver SUV.

On February 5, 2025, four individuals were arrested by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in the area of the Sunrise Centre in Kitchener following a jewellery store robbery in Stratford. Two stolen vehicles from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) were recovered as part of the arrest. 

As a result of the collaborative, multi-jurisdictional investigation, these four individuals were linked to the two attempted jewellery store robberies in Waterloo on February 1, 2025, and February 3, 2025.

These four individuals remain in custody, and Waterloo Regional Police have issued warrants for their arrest.

Three youths, a 15-year-old from Toronto, a 16-year-old from Kitchener, and a 17-year-old from Nova Scotia, as well as a 27-year-old male from Richmond Hill, are facing the following charges:

  • Attempted robbery with a weapon (two counts)
  • Disguise with intent (two counts)
  • Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence

The investigation is ongoing to identify and locate the two outstanding individuals involved in the two attempted robberies in Waterloo.

Waterloo Region, Ontario  Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate an attempted robbery at Waterloo shopping centre.

On February 1, 2025, at approximately 6 p.m., police responded to reports of an attempted jewellery store robbery at Conestoga Mall.

Six suspects arrived at the mall in a grey Honda Civic stolen earlier in the day in Toronto.

The males entered the mall, approached the jewellery store, and fled when a store security guard intervened.

The suspects are described as:

  • Suspect 1: Male, wearing a black hoodie, black jogging pants, black face mask, white shoes, and white gloves
  • Suspect 2: White male, wearing a grey Adidas hoodie, black pants, black face mask, and black shoes. This suspect was the driver of the stolen Civic.
  • Suspect 3: Male, wearing a grey hoodie, black jogging pants, black mask, white shoes, and black gloves
  • Suspect 4: Male, wearing black clothing
  • Suspect 5: Male, wearing a black jacket with a white fur hood, black pants, and black shoes
  • Suspect 6: Male, wearing a black hoodie, black jogging pants, black face mask, white shoes, and white gloves

The stolen Honda Civic has since been recovered outside of Waterloo Region.

No physical injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

The investigation is ongoing by WRPS’ Robbery Team.

Man Grabs Hatchet After Police Taser Him – Details Released

Waterloo Region, Ontario  Waterloo Regional Police have charged a male driver following an incident on Strasburg Road in Kitchener.

On February 5, 2025, at approximately 5:20 p.m., an officer was on proactive patrol in the area of Strasburg Road and Block Line Road and was alerted by the automated licence plate recognition (ALPR) technology of a disqualified driver.

The driver immediately attempted to evade police and proceeded through the intersection on a red light and was struck by another vehicle.

The male driver exited his vehicle and attempted to fight the officer, which resulted in the officer deploying a conducted energy weapon (CEW). The CEW was ineffective, and the male returned to his vehicle and retrieved a hatchet and threated the officer. The male was subsequently arrested by officers.

The three occupants of the vehicle that were struck in the intersection were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old Kitchener male was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Assault police
  • Resist arrest
  • Assault police officer with a weapon
  • Disarming a police officer
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle

The male was held for a bail hearing.

Pedestrian Collision

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police’s Traffic Services Unit is investigating a pedestrian collision in Waterloo.

On January 24, 2025, at approximately 6:35 a.m., emergency services responded to reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Westmount Road North near Father David Bauer Drive.

The pedestrian, a 24-year-old Waterloo male, was transported to an out-of-region hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver reported no physical injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.

Roads in the area were closed for the investigation and have since been reopened.
