(HOWICK, ON) – Members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment are currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that took place early this morning (02July) near Clifford.
Shortly before 6:30 a.m. South Bruce OPP, Huron County OPP, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Minto Fire Department responded to a single motor vehicle collision located on Highway 9 (Elora Street) just west of Clifford.
Upon arrival first responders located a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that had left the roadway and collided with a large tree. The driver was found with vital signs absent.
The driver/lone occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The deceased has been identified as Kirk HUBER, 38 years of age, from Mildmay.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation with the assistance from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team.
Highway 9 has since re-opened for travel.
