Collision Sends Three To Hospital

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Three people were taken to hospital after a collision in the Municipality of North Perth this morning.

On March 02 2021, at approximately 8:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Perth County Paramedic Services, and the North Perth Fire Department responded to a two vehicle head-on collision on Perth Road 164, between Line 87 and Line 88, just north of Listowel.

The investigation revealed that a northbound vehicle, a passenger van, lost control and entered the southbound lane, striking a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV). The driver of the van was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. One passenger of the van and the driver of the SUV received minor injuries. Five other occupants of the van were not injured.

Another vehicle was damaged when it swerved to avoid the collision, and entered the ditch.

As a result, Steve JONES, 42, of Trenton, has been charged with:

  • Careless Driving

The accused was issued a Provincial Offences Notice for the charge.

The Perth County OPP is reminding drivers to leave enough space between vehicles to allow for emergency situations. Check weather and road conditions prior to departing, and give yourself extra time to travel when conditions are not ideal.
