22 Year Old Charged By DRE

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Goderich resident is facing an Impaired Operation charge following a traffic complaint that was investigated by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last week.

On March 11, 2021 at approximately 10:16 p.m. Huron County OPP received a complaint about a sedan that was travelling in an erratic manner from Benmiller onto Base Line. Shortly thereafter, an OPP officer spotted the suspect vehicle travelling southbound on Base Line. A traffic stop was conducted and while speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver was displaying signs of impairment by way of a drug.

The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for impaired operation and was transported to Stratford where a drug recognition evaluation was conducted. Upon completion of the evaluation the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) determined the driver was impaired by a drug.

Brittany HANSEN, 22 years of age, from Goderich has been charged with Impaired Operation. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 12, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
