Fatal ATV Incident

 (Mississippi Mills, ON) – A Mississippi Mills Township resident has died from injuries sustained in an ATV collision near Clayton ON.

Officers with the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the scene on Clayton Road in Mississippi Mills Township, shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024. The ATV had rolled over on the road.

Members of the Lanark County Paramedic Service conducted life-saving measures at the scene, the rider was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as a 70-year-old man from the area.

The investigation by the Lanark County OPP is continuing, with assistance from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and members of the Technical Collision Investigation Team.

Jeffrey MCCURDY – Drunk Driving

(MISSISSIPPI MILLS, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Renfrew resident with impaired driving.

An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Pakenham shortly before 10:30 p.m. on May 6, 2024. An approved alcohol screening device was utilized, and the driver was then arrested and transported to the detachment in Carleton Place for additional testing.

As a result of the investigation, Jeffrey MCCURDY, age 58, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on June 3, 2024.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension) and vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
