Alexander DAVIDSON – Drunk Driving

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after vehicle leaves road and collides with hydro pole.

On April 20, 2024, at 6:32 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex-London Paramedic Service, and Middlesex Centre Fire were dispatched to Littlewood Drive in Middlesex Centre, for the report of a single vehicle that left the roadway, rolled, and collided with a hydro pole.

The driver was arrested and transported to hospital as a precaution for non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the collision.

Hydro One attended the scene as the hydro pole was damaged.

As a result, Alexander DAVIDSON, a 46-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous operation

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on June 11, 2024.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

Matthew VANOS – Drunk Driving

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Driver charged with impaired operation after members of the public report separate traffic complaints of possible impaired driver.

On March 26, 2024, at 5:53 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a traffic complaint in the area of Highbury Avenue North and Highway 401 in the City of London and a second complaint a short time later  westbound on Highway 402 for the report of a possible impaired driver.

The vehicle was located on Victoria Street in Delaware, Middlesex Centre, at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol and was placed under arrest.

As a result, Matthew VANOS, a 42-year-old of Middlesex Centre, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on May 23, 2024.

Uninsured Suspended Driver Caught Again – OPP Withhold Name

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On March 20, 2024, at 10:48 a.m., a Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) member, while on general patrol on Glendon Drive in Middlesex Centre, was alerted by the Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system, of a vehicle with unattached licence plates.

A traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the licence plates on the car did not match and the driver was suspended.

As a result, the driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old of Denfield, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Driving while under suspension – while suspended under HTA Sec 41/42
  • Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charges. 

The In Car Camera and ALPR have been operating in Middlesex County OPP vehicles since March 13, 2023. Middlesex OPP officers continue to see drivers operating vehicles that do not have valid, registered licence plates, are currently driving unlicenced, while under suspension or prohibited.

Although vehicle owners are not required to purchase a validation sticker for their vehicle, licence plates are still required to be renewed annually or bi-annually. The Middlesex OPP wants you to know that driving a vehicle with expired validation carries a set fine of $110.

Danny DURNEZ – Drunk Driving

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On March 17, 2024, at 12:04 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol, observed a suspicious vehicle travelling on Ilderton Road in Middlesex Centre.

A traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where tests were administered.

As a result, Danny DURNEZ, a 64-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Liquor Licence Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on May 14, 2024.
