19 Year Old From Bluevale Charged

(MAPLETON TWP, ON) – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charges Bluevale resident with four provincial offences.

On November 28, 2024, at approximately 9:45 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Unit were performing a traffic enforcement initiative and observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, to which a traffic stop was initiated on Wellington Road 8 within Mapleton Township.

As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old from Bluevale was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:

  • Drive motor vehicle – Perform stunt – Excessive speed
  • Speeding 1-49 km/h over posted limit
  • Fail to surrender licence
  • No mudguards

Anyone charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform stunt, receives a 14-day impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court – Guelph, at a later date.

Nicholas FURLER – Drunk Driving

(MAPLETON TWP, ON) – Wellington County OPP received a report of a single vehicle striking a tree, which lead to the arrest of a Wellesley resident.

On November 12, 2024, just before 4:30 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a single vehicle collision, involving the vehicle striking a tree on Eighth line within Mapleton Township.

As a result of the investigation, Nicholas FURLER, a 29-year-old of Wellesley ON, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statue.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on November 26, 2024.

Motorcyclist Airlifted Following Collision

(TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON, ON) – On June 6, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious, motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 12 at Sixteenth Line, Mapleton. Initial reports indicated that a red sedan and motorcycle had collided.

Members of the OPP, Mapleton Fire/ Rescue Emergency Response and Guelph Wellington Paramedic Service responded. The lone rider of the motorcycle was airlifted to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

The intersection is currently closed for investigators. Anyone with information related to this collision is asked to call 1-888-310-1122.

Fatal Collision

(TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a double fatal collision near Drayton.

On April 14, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Twelfth Line and Sideroad 16, Mapleton. It was reported that a white coupe, a silver mini van and a red pick-up truck hauling a trailer and were involved.

The lone occupant of the white coupe, an 18-year-old male from Mount Forest, and a passenger in the pickup truck, a 44-year-old female from Alma, were both pronounced deceased at scene. A 13-year-old passenger from the pickup was airlifted to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. The three other occupants in the pickup were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The three occupants in the min van did not require immediate medical attention.

The intersection remained closed into the night while reconstructionists examined the collision. The office of the Chief Coroner was notified and attended the scene. The cause of the collision is still under investigation and anyone with information related to it is asked to call 1-888-310-1122.

One Dead – Krzysztof WIATR Arrested

(TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has concluded their investigation into a fatal motor vehicle collision and have laid charges. Krzysztof WIATR, 60-years-old of Oakville, for Dangerous Operation Causing Death contrary to the Criminal Code and Careless Driving – Cause Death contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

On October 23, 2023, at approximately 12:00 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious collision at the intersection of Wellington Road 11 and Wellington Road 7, Mapleton. WIATR was operating a semi-truck and trailer and collided with a pickup truck killing the driver.

Tarrick Andrew FAKIRA-MARTIN – Break & Enter, Theft, Etc.

(TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON, ON) – On February 21, 2024, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported break in at a residence on Fourth Line , Mapleton. It was reported that two parties had broken into a home and had fled on foot. Police responded located two stolen vehicles near the residence: A beige pick-up truck from Wallenstein and a white Sport Utility Vehicle from London. One party was located on a nearby property and charged.

On February 21, 2024, at approximately 5:45 p.m., OPP responded to a theft call on Clyde Street, Elora. It was reported that an individual had stolen a bicycle and had damaged it. Police responded and located the same suspect from the early occurrence and laid further charges.

Tarrick Andrew FAKIRA-MARTIN, 30-years-old of London, has been charged with Break-Enter a Dwelling House with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence, Break-Enter a Place – with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence, and two counts of Theft of Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code. Further, the accused was also charged with Theft Under $5000, and Mischief, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on April 16, 2024.
