(Kingston, ON) – A stolen vehicle, from Quebec crashed into a rock cut while traveling west bound on the 401 highway last night. A second stolen vehicle, from Quebec was recovered when the driver stopped to pick up the other individual that had fled the collision.
Just after 12:30 am on February 24, 2025 Frontenac OPP were called to a single vehicle collision on the 401 highway going west bound just beyond the Gardiners Road on ramp. When officers arrived, the vehicle was empty with obvious signs of an injured driver that had walked away from the wreckage. It was determined that the vehicle was stolen.
Frontenac OPP, assisted by the Kingston Police Force conducted a search with their K-9 unit, but did not locate the driver. A second stolen vehicle from Quebec stopped a short distance along the highway, where the injured individual was picked up. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver and the passenger, who had cuts and lacerations to his head.
A search of the vehicles located a large amount of stolen property and identification belonging to other victims. Wallets, cell phones, clothing and identification were recovered in both vehicles.
Jugraj Singh, a 27-year-old male, from Toronto was charged with several offences:
- Theft of motor vehicle – 2 counts.
- Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code.
- Fail to comply with probation – 5 counts.
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 – 2 counts.
- Fraud over $5000.
- Possession of schedule I substance – Cocaine
- Personation with intent.
- Possession of a credit card.
- Obstruct peace officer.
- Fail to remain.
- Drive motor vehicle – no licence.
The accused was held in custody to appear for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston.
Navtej Singh, a 20-year-old male, from Brampton was charged with several offences:
- Theft of motor vehicle – 2 counts.
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 – 3 counts.
