Robin KIRCHEN Was Arrested

(HALIBURTON, ON) – The Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have changed an individual with impaired driving in connection to a stolen vehicle investigation in the Township of Minden Hills.

On July 25, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., members of the Haliburton Highlands OPP responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from a residence on St. Germaine Street. While police patrolled the area, a concerned motorist called 9-1-1 to report a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed, matching the description of the stolen vehicle.

At 7:10 p.m., an officer located the vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 35 at Davis Lake Road and conducted a traffic stop. After speaking with the driver, who matched the victim’s description, the officer was also led into an impaired operation investigation. The accused was arrested and charged, and the vehicle was returned undamaged to its rightful owner.

Robin KIRCHEN, a 40-year-old from Peterborough, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Theft of Motor vehicle
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on August 7, 2024.

2 Arrested Following Break & Enter

(HALIBURTON COUNTY)  Members of the Haliburton Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) / Haliburton Highlands Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) have made two arrests following an investigation into two reported break and enters in the County of Haliburton.

On April 12, 2024, members of the Haliburton Highlands OPP were at a residence in Haliburton and observed property and a vehicle related to prior reported break and enters in the County of Haliburton. The vehicle was seized, and a search warrant was obtained. This resulted in the recovery of stolen property.

Through this investigation two people were identified and later arrested.  

Katlyn HOLLANDS (age 32) of Haliburton has been charged with:

·        Possession of stolen property under 5000

·        Possession of stolen property over 5000

This accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on June 5, 2024.

Joseph BELL (age 32) of Peterborough has been charged with:

·        Possession of stolen property under 5000

·        Possession of stolen property over 5000

·        Fail to comply with probation order (2 counts)

This accused was held for a bail hearing.

More Impaired Drivers

(HALIBURTON COUNTY, ON)  Haliburton Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two drivers, that had been travelling in the wrong lane, in two separate incidents in the last week.

On March 1, 2024, shortly before 10:00 pm, Haliburton Highlands OPP stopped a passenger vehicle that had been driving in the oncoming lane towards a police cruiser on Bobcaygeon Road in Minden.

As a result of the investigation, Tabbitha WATTS, 35 years of age, of Peterborough was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired-alcohol

·        Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on April 3, 2024.

On March 5, 2024, shortly before 7:00 pm, Haliburton Highlands OPP, stopped a passenger vehicle driving in the oncoming lane on County Road 21 in the Municipality of Dysart et al.

An investigation was commenced and as a result, Robert KRZECZKOWSKI, 60 years of age, of St. Catharines was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on April 3, 2024.
