Mathew BRISEBOIS Facing Murder Charge

(ALFRED-PLANTAGENET, ON) – One person has been charged with murder following a death in the Township of Alfred-Plantagenet.

Members of the Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment and Prescott-Russell Paramedics responded to a residence on County Road 17 just before 8:00 p.m. on February 22, 2024. Timothy PROVOST, age 32, was located deceased in an apartment.

A post-mortem examination confirmed the death to be the result of a stabbing injury.

On February 25, 2024, as part of the ongoing investigation, investigators arrested an individual at the Hawkesbury Detachment without incident.

Mathew BRISEBOIS, age 30 of Alfred-Plantagenet, has been charged with Second Degree Murder – section 235(1) of the Criminal Code. The accused remains in custody with a bail hearing scheduled for February 26, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal.

The investigation by the Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, continues in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
