80% STILL HAVEN’T VOTED!
(Wingham, North Huron) — Imagine opening your next property tax bill and discovering your taxes have DOUBLED simply because you didn’t vote.
Several North Huron candidates are reportedly on board with a radical idea: ZERO property taxes for those who vote, and DOUBLE property taxes for those who don’t!
The proposal would reward citizens who participate in democracy while shifting the tax burden onto those who stay home.
Election officials already maintain records of who voted — not how they voted. This is a proposed idea, NOT an approved North Huron tax policy, YET.
With typical voter turnout reportedly around 40–50%, and approximately 80% of eligible voters still having not cast a ballot this election, the message couldn’t be clearer:
YOUR SILENCE DOESN’T PROTECT YOUR WALLET!
Property taxes, municipal spending, accountability and your right to question government are all reasons to pay attention to who’s running your municipality.
You don’t have to agree with every candidate. You don’t have to agree with this tax proposal. But you should care enough about your community to participate.
VOTING CLOSES MONDAY, OCTOBER 26, AT 8 P.M.
Democracy doesn’t defend itself. Citizens do.
WAKE UP, NORTH HURON! VOTE WHILE YOU STILL CAN!
