On July 16, 2026, the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) arrested and charged a 34-year-old man from Barrie with luring a child under 14 and making sexually explicit material available to a child, possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material and distributing child sexual abuse and exploitation material following a two-month investigation.
Members with the ICE Unit received a report from Uniform Patrol concerning a child under 14 being lured and exploited online via social media platform Snapchat.
As ICE Unit attempted to execute a search warrant on July 16 the accused exited the residence and drove away. Officers subsequently conducted a vehicle stop and placed him under arrest.
An electronic device belonging to the accused was seized for a full forensic analysis.
