Police Seize Marihuana
(Saugeen First Nation, ON.) – On the 3rd of November, 2009, members of
the Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug
Enforcement Unit, along with members of the Western Region Emergency
Response Team, the Bruce Peninsula Detachment, and Owen Sound Police
Service executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at
a Highway 21 residence, on the Saugeen First Nation.
Police seized a large quantity of dried cannabis marihuana, Canadian
currency and a firearm.
The illegal drugs had an approximate street value of approximately
$470,000 dollars.
Two Saugeen First Nation persons, a 31 year old male and 30 year old
female, were arrested and subsequently charged with Production of
Cannabis Marihuana, Production of Cannabis Resin, Possession for the
Purpose of Trafficking Cannabis Marihuana and Unsafe Storage of a
Firearm.
Both persons are being held pending a bail hearing on the 4th of
November 2009, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Walkerton, Ontario.
