(Huron East, ON) On November 14, 2009 Huron OPP officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. spot check on Front Road in the Municipality of Huron East. At approximately 8:00 pm a vehicle turned towards the checkpoint but then turned around to avoid it. An officer followed the vehicle and caught up to it on Ontario Street in Clinton where a traffic stop was initiated.
Investigation revealed that the male driver was unlicensed due to a prior Criminal Code driving conviction. The driver was arrested for Drive While Disqualified. The vehicle he was operating was towed and will be impounded for 45 days as per statute. The liquor inside the vehicle was also seized. Cameron STANDEN (20) of Stratford was charged with one count of Drive While Disqualified and one count of Drive Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available. He will answer to his charge in Goderich Court on January 11, 2010.
