(ACW, ON) Sometime during the weekend of November 13-16, 2009, four cottages were damaged and/or entered on Erie Street in Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh. All of the cottages had been closed for the winter and it appears that entry was only gained to two of the locations. Alcohol was apparently the target item as other valuables were left behind.
Due to the fact that many of these locations are remote and vacant, cottagers are advised that it is best to remove valuables from your property at the end of the season. In most cottage locations, once the season ends, there is no one around for several kilometres making it “open season†for would be thieves. People seeing suspicious persons or vehicles in cottage locations are encouraged to obtain a plate number and call the incident into the police at the time it is happening.
