(Central Huron, ON) On January 16, 2010 at approximately 2:00 am a Huron OPP officer stopped a vehicle on Albert Street in Clinton. Upon speaking to the driver, the officer detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. The officer read a demand for the driver to provide a roadside sample of breath and the driver complied but failed the test. He was then arrested and taken to the Huron OPP Detachment where he met with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician to provide two more samples of breath. The tests were completed and the results confirmed that the driver had been operating the motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level in excess of 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood.
As a result of the traffic stop, Ryan WATTERWORTH (21) of Bluewater was charged with one count of Drive With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He will answer to his charge in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on March 8, 2010. His licence was suspended for 90 days as per statute.
