(South Huron, ON) Shortly after 10:00 pm on March 1, 2010 Huron County paramedics, the Dashwood Fire Department and the Huron OPP were called to a single motor vehicle collision involving a snowmobile. The collision had occurred on the groomed trail in an area north of McDonald Line and east of McTaggart Line. Riders located a male on the trail in the vicinity of his damaged sled and called 911. Paramedics arrived and confirmed that the male was deceased.
The driver has been identified as Laverne MCCARTER (64) of South Huron. OPP Technical Collision Investigators were brought to the scene and at this time the cause is still under investigation.
