(KINCARDINE, ON.) – The South Bruce OPP have been receiving reports of Coyotes in or near the town of Kincardine. Coyotes are intelligent, adaptable and curious creatures, but they are also shy, cautious and non-confrontational. To help keep coyotes away from your property, the South Bruce OPP are offering the following tips:
o Dispose of garbage in secure containers that can’t be opened by wildlife
o Don’t leave garbage or food waste outside and accessible
o Use a secure, enclosed compost bin. Don’t put meat, dairy or eggs in compost
o If you have fruit trees, pick the ripe fruit immediately and clear fallen fruit from the ground
o Consider installing outdoor lighting that is motion activated
o Trim or clear away bushes near your home that an animal may seek cover in
