March 08, 2010 OPP Constable Vu Pham was shot in the line of duty, he succumbed to his wound hours later at a London Hospital. Fred Preston was subsequently charged with first degree murder, and attempted murder of another officer. Fred Preston passed away on Thursday from injuries sustained during a gun fight with police.
On Friday March 12, thousands of Police Officers from across Canada and USA arrived in Wingham to show their respect for our Fallen Local Hero. Thousands lined Josephine Street as the funeral procession passed by. Most stores closed for the funeral.
It truly was a moving scene as thousands of Police marched down Josephine street on the way to the funeral at the complex.
We would like to thank everyone that showed up and paid their respect to OPP Constable Vu Pham and his family, and helped send him off in a true Hero fashion.
