(Huron County, ON.) – The South Bruce OPP has received several complaints of a high pressure salesman that sells water filtration systems on behalf of Del-Pro Systems. On March 24th, 2010, a report was made to police that this male was at a senior’s residence in Kincardine. In order to make Huron County seniors aware, we are providing details of the South Bruce complaints.
Description of the salesman:
o 6’ tall, thin build
o Late 40’s or early 50’s
o Balding with brown/grey hair
The South Bruce OPP has information that this salesman prefers to sell to elderly females, preferably living alone. With this in mind, the Huron OPP is offering the following advice to area residents. If you aren’t comfortable letting a stranger into your home, don’t. In fact, we would not recommend ever allowing a stranger into your home. Do not feel pressured with door to door salesmen to make any purchases. Be firm and blunt to remove someone from your property if necessary.
The Trespass to Property Act Section 2(1) (b) creates the offence of “Fail to leave premises when directedâ€. This is an arrestable offence that carries an immediate set fine of $65.00 with costs. If someone will not leave your property when you ask them to, this section of law allows police to remove them for you. Please call 911 if you are nervous with someone at your door that will not leave.
Anyone with information about this suspect is encouraged to call the Huron OPP at 1-800-310-1122 or CRIME STOPPERS- 1-800-222-T.I.P.S. (8477).
