(ESSEX COUNTY, ON) – Police are requesting public assistance in an ongoing homicide investigation into the death of a Windsor resident in the Town of LaSalle.
On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m., members of the LaSalle Police Service responded to reports of an individual in medical distress at a residence on Todd Lane in the Town of LaSalle. Upon arrival, police located an individual with serious injuries consistent with a stabbing. The victim was transported to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Nancy GREWAL of Windsor.
Upon further investigation, police learned the victim had attended the residence on Todd Lane earlier that evening. Shortly before 9:30 p.m., as she was leaving the residence, she was confronted by an individual who stabbed her multiple times before fleeing the scene. Investigators believe the individual fled in a vehicle that was parked in a laneway on the extension of 10th Street, north of Todd Lane.
The LaSalle Police Service secured the residence and requested assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Canine Unit to track the suspect.
In the days that followed, the LaSalle Police Service executed search warrants at the residence on Todd Lane and the victim’s residence in Windsor. The occupants of the residence on Todd Lane are not persons of interest.
Investigators believe this is an isolated incident but urge community members to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activity to police.
On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the LaSalle Police Service requested assistance from the OPP. This remains an active investigation by the LaSalle Police Service, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
Police are seeking the public’s assistance in obtaining information, dashcam or surveillance video regarding the vehicle that may have parked on the gravel laneway on the north side of Todd Lane at 10th Street on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, between 8:45 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. This vehicle may have been visible to drivers who travelled northbound on 10th Street towards Todd Lane. Investigators are also interested in speaking to anyone that saw any vehicles parked in that laneway in the weeks prior to Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
