(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) – An individual is charged following a break and enter in Mapleton.
On February 26, 2026, at approximately 4:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a break and enter at a residence within Mapleton Township. The suspect fled the residence prior to police arrival and was subsequently arrested on March 7, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m.
As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old from Howick Township, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence
- Trespassing at night
- Criminal harassment – threatening conduct
- Possession break in instruments
- Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
The accused was held in police custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph.
The accused’s name is being withheld, out of concern for their well-being.
