(KENORA, ON) – The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following an incident in Kenora, where one person was pronounced deceased.
On Monday, March 9, 2026, shortly after 6:00 p.m. CDT, members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at a residence. Upon police arrival, communication was attempted with a male armed with an edged weapon. During the interaction, an officer discharged their firearm. The individual was pronounced deceased.
