Stephan MURPHY – Drunk Driving

(PETAWAWA, ON) – A Whitewater Region (WWR) resident is facing several charges after an impaired driving investigation in the Town of Petawawa.    

On March 2, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m., RIDE Program officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a driver on Petawawa Boulevard. After speaking with the driver, officers began an impaired driving investigation. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the detachment for testing.  

As a result of this investigation 32-year-old Stephan MURPHY of WWR has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC), Highway Traffic Act (HTA), and Provincial Offence Act (POA) offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
  • Drive without proper rear light – motor vehicle
  • Drive motor vehicle – no currently validated permit
  • Breach of POA probation order – two counts

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 20, 2026.
