(MITCHELL, ON) On Tuesday afternoon, March 16, 2010, an OPP officer on patrol in Mitchell, observed an ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) with two male riders, one of whom was not wearing a helmet.
The officer activated the cruisers emergency lights and siren as the ATV travelled through residential streets. The ATV operator observed the cruiser, accelerated and refused to stop for police. The officer made numerous attempts to safely stop the ATV but the operator refused to comply. The ATV was observed being driven into a bush area on the south end of town.
The officer continued patrol of the area and located the two males and the ATV at a residence in Mitchell. The driver of the ATV was arrested for “Dangerous Operation†and “Flight from police officerâ€.
Robert PRIDE (22) a Waterloo resident is set to appear in Stratford Criminal Court on May 17, 2010 to answer to the charges.
