Michelle Morrison – Babysitter – Drunk Driving – Child Abandonment – Collision – Three Year Old Passenger – One Year Old Left At Home

(South Huron, ON) On February 25, 2010 at approximately 2:30 pm, Huron OPP officers were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Whalen Line east of Park Road. The collision had been witnessed by an independent person. Upon arrival, police determined that the driver of the vehicle had been consuming alcohol. A three year old passenger in the vehicle was taken to the South Huron Hospital where she was treated and later released.

The officer read a demand for the driver to provide a roadside sample of her breath. The driver complied but failed the test. She was arrested and taken to the Huron OPP Detachment where she met with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician to provide two more samples of her breath. The results confirmed that the driver had a blood alcohol concentration that was above the legal limit of 80 milligrams.

Further investigation also revealed that the driver, who babysat children in her home, had left a one year old child at her home while she drove into Exeter. The driver had been returning home when the collision occurred.

As a result, Michelle MORRISON (26) of Lucan Biddulph has been charged with one count of Drive Motor Vehicle With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and one count of Child Abandonment. She will answer to these charges on April 29, 2010 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter. MORRISON’s drivers licence was suspended for 90 days as per statute.
