(Goderich, ON) On February 6, 2010 at approximately 3:15 pm, Huron OPP officers were set up for a RIDE checkpoint in the Town of Goderich. While there, a motorist entered the checkpoint and officers immediately detected the odour of alcohol on the drivers’ breath. The officer then read a demand for the driver to provide a roadside sample of his breath and the driver complied. The driver failed his test and was arrested for driving with over 80 milligrams of alcohol. The man was taken to the Huron OPP Detachment where he met with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician to provide two more samples of his breath. The results of the tests confirmed that the driver had over two times above the legal limit of alcohol in his system at the time of driving.
As a result of the investigation, Vernon BROMLEY (54) of Blyth was charged with one count of Drive with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in 100 Millilitres of Blood. He will answer to his charge in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on March 15, 2010. His licence was suspended for 90 days as per statute.
