(Huron County, ON) The joint effort between the Huron OPP, the OPP Mount Forest Traffic Unit and the MTO enforcement officers proved to be very successful. All groups were on hand for a commercial vehicle blitz from January 11th to the 25th. The results are being reported as a follow up.
A total of 167 vehicles were checked for equipment and safety standards. In total 36 charges were laid including such offences as speeding, unsafe lane changes, insecure loads and vehicle documentation. Three vehicles had their plates taken off and were removed from the road as they were deemed to be unfit. Another five vehicles were taken out of service temporarily pending repairs. In addition to the charges, an education was provided to many operators and companies to the ongoing complaints regarding commercial vehicle operations in Huron County.
